THE NOTION AND TRENDS IN DEVELOPING A NETWORK OF PUBLIC ROADS

Abstract

Analyzes the development of highways network in general use in Ukraine, as well as proposes a strategy for the development of highways network in Ukraine for the prospect 25 ... 30 years on the basis of determining the minimum and actual distances between the largest cities of Ukraine. For comparison, an analysis of the road network in developed countries (USA, UK, France, Germany) is given. The calculation method and determination parameters of direct distance between cities of Ukraine according to their GPS coordinates is proposed, minimum spherical distances, minimum speeds of vehicles and time spent on moving cars between the largest cities of Ukraine are determined. There are four groups of factors (legislative, financial, managerial and production) that restrain the development of highways network in general use. According to the results of the technical and economic comparison, it is recommended to construct pavements with cement concrete.
